King of Kings - "Mighty God"
Sun, Dec 08, 2019
by
Lee Compson
Passage:
Isaiah 9:6-7
&
Revelation 19:11-16
Series:
Special Services
Duration:
31 mins 1 sec
"Mighty God" seems to us like an obvious statement of the Messiah's divinity. But in reality, refering to human leaders as "gods" was fairly common, even in the Old Testament. We trace the stages of how this hyperbolic title of honor became literally embodied by Jesus, the God-man.

Series:
Special Services
Duration:
33 mins 26 secs
We begin our Advent Series looking at the first title in Isaiah's prophecy in 9:6. Jesus is predicted to be the perfect king who will be a "wonderful counselor". But what does that mean? How did he fulfill that? We explore the New Testament to find the answers to those questions in this mornings message.

How Tragic!
Sun, Nov 10, 2019
by
Lee Compson
Passage:
1 Kings 16:21-34
Series:
It's All Downhill From Here - 1-2 Kings
Duration:
29 mins 31 secs
My many measures, the reigns of Omri and Ahaz were excellent times for the kingdom of Israel. Despite the political stability and economic prosperity, the nation lacked religious piety. Because sin and evil worsened and progressed, all of their other advancements became meaningless. Prosperity is a tragedy when it comes at the expense of piety.

Going Half-Way
Sun, Nov 03, 2019
by
Lee Compson
Passage:
1 Kings 14:21-16:20
&
James 4:7-10
Series:
It's All Downhill From Here - 1-2 Kings
Duration:
39 mins 44 secs
Israel and Judah's apostasy and rebellion continue to worsen. Their history that's recorded in 1 Kings 14-16 is littered with evil kings though occasionally a good one rises up. Overall though, even the good leaders don't totally reform their nations. Half-measures of repentance fail to cure their full-measures of rebellion. And the same is true for us.

Sun, Oct 27, 2019
by
Lee Compson
Passage:
1 Kings 13
Series:
It's All Downhill From Here - 1-2 Kings
Duration:
36 mins 48 secs
We continue our look at the evil King Jeroboam and how his life reflects the darkness of sinful decisions. Depravity always leads to disaster, especially when we waver in our obedience and ignore the warnings God puts in our way.

The Destiny of Depravity (Pt.1)
Sun, Oct 20, 2019
by
Lee Compson
Passage:
1 Kings 12:25-14:24
Series:
It's All Downhill From Here - 1-2 Kings
Duration:
33 mins 29 secs
Jeroboam was placed in charge of the northern tribes of Israel directly by God. Despite this great opportunity, he squandered it because of his own fears and insecurities. He was dedicated to doing his own thing and that led him and the nation astray. His life exemplifies how disaster always comes to those who are dedicated to depravity.

by
Lee Compson
Passage:
1 Kings 12:1-24
Series:
It's All Downhill From Here - 1-2 Kings
Duration:
31 mins 4 secs
God is a gracious God, but he is not going to prevent us from feeling the consequences of bad choices and dumb decisions. King Rehoboam made some extraordinarily foolish decisions when he came to power and God let him feed on the fruits of that foolishness.
